What Wispr Flow gets right
Credit where it's due: Wispr Flow made dictation addictive. The cleanup is genuinely good — it strips filler, fixes grammar, and adjusts tone to the app you're in. It's cross-platform (Mac, Windows, iOS, Android), covers 100+ languages, and the free tier is a real on-ramp. If you need dictation across desktop and mobile platforms, Wispr Flow has broader coverage today.
Where the trade-offs differ
- Network dependency. Wispr Flow transcribes in the cloud, so every dictation depends on a working network and service path. LockedIn Flow's core dictation does not.
- Privacy controls. Wispr Flow documents separate controls: Privacy Mode governs training, Private Cloud Sync governs server retention, Accessibility text context is on by default, and Screen OCR is off by default. LockedIn Flow processes dictation locally.
- Price. Wispr Flow lists Pro at $15/month or $144/year. LockedIn Flow Pro is $19 once.
- Coverage. Wispr Flow supports more platforms and languages. LockedIn Flow is currently limited to Apple Silicon Macs and 25 European languages.
The structural difference: Wispr Flow's failures are cloud failures. LockedIn Flow has no server between your voice and your text — Parakeet TDT v3 runs on the Apple Neural Engine, and cleanup stays on-device. Local rules support macOS 15+; optional generative cleanup requires macOS 26 and Apple Intelligence. And every dictation is written to an encrypted recovery store before it's inserted — plus it's on your clipboard — reducing the risk of losing text if insertion fails.

If you dictate across operating systems, keep Wispr Flow. If you live on a Mac and want dictation without sending audio to a transcription service — that's why we exist.
